Vintage Rovner Long Window Alto Saxophone Mouthpiece No. 5 with Ligature & Cap. According to Rovner this mouthpiece is based on the Metal Eagle mouthpiece, that was very similar to the Steve Wilkerson model. Phil Rovner made these mouthpieces in the early 90’s, they are no longer available apart from the odd 2nd hand one that appears from time to time. The idea behind these long window mouthpieces is to let as much of the reed as possible to resonate while still being held securely in place. The unique design of this mouthpiece tip and the long window means these can only be used with a Rovner Ligature, which is included. The Rovner Custom C-1RL ligature is period to the mouthpiece, so not today’s design. Instrument – Alto Saxophone. Material – Hard Rubber.
