A vintage player’s horn that get’s the sound! Modern horns can’t touch the sound! In 1932 , the prewar metal Conn used. Made all the difference in the world! Serial #s 251K and 252 K are tough to beat for sound. The reso’s are not metal. I just posted 3 videos. I haven’t gigged for 6 months, chops are a little too relaxed! But hopefully , you’ll hear the reason why players rave about the horn. I haven’t gigged in months but my embouchure should be good enough to help you decide. This is a #252 Conn Crossover or Transitional model from 1932. The 6M’s came out in 1934. The Chu Berry series stopped being made in the end of 1930 / or early months of 1931. The Transitionals are highly desired because the have the legendary tone of the Chu Berry’s but play far more in tune and are far less squirrelly! You obviously need to try it out with your set up. I use a Meyer 5 or 6 Medium chamber. I’ve had good luck with older Semer Soloists with about an E or F facing. I often travel around Florida from Jacksonville to Key West, so there is a possibility I could bring a sanitized horn for you to try. I just tested negative and use masks. You could try it at your door or play it outside or take your time playing in my big sanitized garage in St Augustine. I understand and take our health seriously. It shows no sign of repair. It has been maintained by Manny Valera of Miami (of the Paquito D’Rivera band) and recently tweaked by Les Arbuckle in Carlsbad California who works on Jerry Bergozi’s horns. Les has recorded with Mike Stern…. Yeah ,,, a virtuoso too! So the horn has been in nice care. I Guarantee you will like this horn. Try to return in 7 days.
