Vintage Original Lacquer Buescher 400 Top Hat and Cane Alto Saxophone, Serial #301989. This is a very pretty Buescher 400 Top Hat and Cane alto saxophone, serial number 301989. The Buescher 400 is arguably one of the most free blowing saxophones ever manufactured. This one has a ultra quick air intake and a powerful response rich in color and overtones. The previous owner did not put a lot of play time on this sax. As such it is still in fantastic shape and playing up a storm on mostly original pads. The original lacquer displays a dark honey tint which is nicely complemented by the crisp engraving. This saxophone does feature all the original key work as well as the original amber rollers on the table keys and the gold plated springs. The original Buescher snap resonators and a majority of the original leather pads are even still on the saxophone. Its body tube, bow, bell and original neck are all in outstanding original condition. The bow cap is perfect and has never been pushed in. The alto does not show any history of major past repair and has never received any re-solders. The original neck is also in good shape, it has never been pulled down in the past. This alto came into our shop playing up a storm on the original pads. Ultimately if you are going to be doing a lot of playing on this saxophone it will need to be overhauled first.
