Conn Connstelation Alto Sax Circa 1949. I have played this sax for 7 yrs and loved its full sound so much I brought another hence why one of them must go. The sax I believe is ex US navy judging by the embossed case. It has all the design features of the Connstellation. 3 octave pips ultra light and fast keywork. I let Paul Booth (stevie winwoods and soon to be touring with the eagles) play the other as he was looking for an alto… He loved it but I put him into an SBA tenor which took his cash. We both observed how this alto plays and feels similar to a tenor fat spread sound. I love playing it acoustically in small group work. It is well used but came to me with a full overhaul and the pads where and are all good. It plays top to bottom easily. Its got vintage in line key work. The plastic guard has been replaced with a metal alternative which is probably better for gigging purposes. Its about 40- 50% original lacquer which means you can have that authentic vintage look or polish up to be shiny. Some of the adjustment locking grub screws are missing but this does not effect playing or set up. Slight lateral play on the F spatula due to lower stack having a conn tapered rod rather than a solid standard rod. Hasnt proved troublesome for me. Ive added one brass riser and extended the G# stop all can be removed. Usually well worn saxes mean theyre great players. I actually prefer this horn to the other but one has to go to pay the taxman. Might be interested in a deal on a silver king Zephyr or conn. Selmer radio improved might be nice. Check out my insta….
